Pretty much the same tbh. With more leaning towards apathy. More common English terms are used for teasing and slurs now. The word "mahu" has almost faded into complacency.

Haole to me is a state of being. I don't use it to describe someone for something out of their control. That's insulting. But yes, because as long as you embody the spirit of aloha, what do I care what you call yourself?

I can't see what this is in response to, but as a born native, I am a rarity that believes that being Hawaiian and being "Hawaiian" are two separate things. You can embrace the Spirit of Aloha and become "Hawaiian". Culture is meant to be shared and open to new ideas, else it dies.
