Show me a cheap NPP. Show me an NPP that’s taken less than 15 years to build.
Show me an NPP that doesn’t produce radwaste.
Show me an NPP that has a free fuel supply (unlike wind or solar).
Show me an NPP that doesn’t shut down in a heatwave.

France and Switzerland shut down nuclear power plants due to heatwave
To cool down, nuclear power plants pump water from local rivers or the sea, which they then release back into water bodies at a higher temperature. However, this process can threaten local biodiversit...

takes way more effort and cost to means test - far more efficient and cheaper to simply give it to everybody. Also people are bound to be left out, given means testing would presume no pension unless tested/applied for? You know how unfair WINZ is - imagine that for pensioners

not under this govt - the cash from those high power prices are filling govt coffers

Looks like a good time in the news cycle to tackle three big myths 🧵
❌ NZ pension costs are an unsustainable burden ❌
Seriously, no, for lots of reasons.
1. Our current Govt spending on pensions is low compared to most other advanced economies. And... [1/n]
Graph of public pension costs as % of GDP for OECD countries in 2021 (latest data). NZ is lower quartile at around 5.1%. OECD average is 7.8%. Plenty of Euro countries are around 10% or above.

It’s NOT chocolate, in my view 🙃

Hate milk chocolate -why TF would anyone want to water down good dark chocolate with milk?🤷🏻‍♀️
Yet this watering down is the very thing Cadbury’s uses to sell its hideosity.
“A glass and a half in every one”
Ugh. No thanks.

exactly what about kids who have managed to escape an abusive relationship with parents, who are not going to pay a cent toward their upkeep.
Reckon we'll see a lot more young people sleeping rough as a direct result of this awful policy

Sure, all of that, but my comment was specifically focussed on RNZ Morning Report's active language around Hamas contrasted with the very passive language distancing Israel from the genocide it's carrying out.
Those people didn't just die, Israel killed them.

Winston blaming the NZ Greens for his broken window for standing along side people he deems as inciting harm against him… Dude legit got into parliament by aligning himself with violent cookers who hung a noose up for JA, defecated on beehive grounds & set fire to a kids playground. #nzpol #Winston

Morning Report bias on show this morning:
Hamas carried out a “terrorist attack,”
“Seized hostages, killed 1200."
Israel retaliated, and since then, “thousands of people have died"??
No, since then Israel has killed thousands.
Call out biased language favouring Israel.

I know, that wasn’t the point which is well-nailed, but how can anyone make this and think it’s ok to just forget a whole political party that holds six seats?

From the original story on this: MFAT gave five options, Winston’s office re-wrote the paper and presented only two.
