I’m starting to think about opera #4. A solid story structure is going to be hard to tease out of this one. I can already hear strains of the music in my head, and I’m seeing flickers of the staging in my mind’s eye… but the narrative is perplexing. It should be an interesting puzzle to solve.

I’m in my little pied-a-terre in Matosinhos, a groovy little area in the northwest corner of Porto, waiting on a rainy morning for the electric company to come turn on the juice. There’s no heat, there’s one chair and I have a blanket. But I don’t need much today to feel happy here.

I’m in Lisbon and trying to ignore The Thing. I imagine it’s a tad easier from here. How’s everyone doing?

Giving Bluesky a whirl again. How’s everybody doing? I’m busy my world in Porto, but will be flying back to the States for the holidays.

In LA. Yesterday and the day before that we had our over-the-top adorable niece and nephew with us as their mother went through a health situation. Woke up early. Got kids fed, sunscreened, lunch packed. Took them to school. Sat with brother at the hospital. All good so far. Now I’m tiiiiired.

Yesterday’s NY Times crossword puzzle was more musically nerdly than one might expect. It was a highly enjoyable one.

I’ve rarely seen OPO this crowded. And with the BA site accidentally booking me 2 tickets and needing to resolve that at the airport before they would issue me a boarding pass, making this flight (and the next one) is a real nail biter…

Just got back from seeing the Santana doc. Sublime!

Just got back from Pilates, which in Portugal is pronounced pee-lah-t’sh. Yes it is, as rumored, a difficult language to learn!

MoCap tests start on Thursday… Yippee!! I love when tech meets art. So much fun!
