I played it on a wired Valve Index. Yes, your argument about the cables vs wireless is very accurate, the cables are annoying and wireless is the way to go.
The game was really wonderful, it felt great to go the puzzles with your hands, very direct. Glad you liked it too.

Fantasy Zone is also fun, but you REALLY need a joystick with autofire for that, don't kill your wrist with it. Also, there are some hints about built-in cheats available. Pretty nice music.

Alex Kidd in Miracle world is good fun, too, but get a hintbook, that Yanken minigame is rigged :)
Zillion (one, not two) is hard and frustrating, but also strangely fun. But use COPIOUS amounts of savestates and the manual, this is a game from a different era.. And put it down, if it doesn't click.

That's one of the Greatest Consoles Ever [tm]. I really love the unapologetic sharp lines and the 'circuit diagram' the first sms had. Second version was the complete opposite and round all over, never liked that.
