I know we make a lot of sometimes hellishly noisy kit, but if you make "white power electronics" or similar laughably tragic right wing bullshit then please feel free to just fuck off and grow up. We really don't need or want your money.

Someone wanted an Aphex Twin themed modded Korg KP1...
circuitbenders.co.uk
Hey look! Its a "Kork" Kaoss Pad KP2... 🤔

Modded by us, but not being sold by us.

As ever, bluesky doesn't seem to like resolving ebay links, so we've taken a photo off the listing. Follow the link to take a look.

Surely house music its whats left over when you've eliminated all the more anally specific options... 😉

pfft, it was IDM in my day, back when people stoked their chins and congratulated each other on how clever they were for listening to a particular wibbly noise.

Obviously being a middle aged male who is somehow convinced that my futile opinions are not both wildly obsolete and entirely unwelcome, my condescension will mostly be directed at younger women.

"Call that Acid Techno? Thats obviously Hard House luv.
Back in my day... blah blah blah..."

As a result of going to a hell of a lot of dance nights in the 90's, i'm now going to spend a minimum of 50% of my waking hours informing people on the internet who are just having fun enjoying music, that they've got their dance genres all wrong and should be filled with shame because of it.

Ok, so which vaguely popular person has put up a video or mentioned our Casio SK1 mods in an interview? The number of SK1 related emails we've got this week cannot be a coincidence...

Sounds like one of those tradesman sucking air through their teeth moments... "oh yeah, thats gonna cost you mate. Classic 73140030 failure there. You just can't get the parts"
circuitbenders.co.uk
that sounds like someone at Roland really couldn't be bothered!

Talking to a guy in Germany about modding a TR505. It turns out he'd sent it to Roland for repair, but they sent it back claiming that part number 73140030 was broken and can't be replaced as its obsolete. A quick check in the service manual reveals that part number 73140030 is the entire main PCB!

We can only speculate as to what horrifying events lead to this packaging!

You definitely need to get an EMS of some sort to go with that pin.

My other half actually works in Farlington. I've ordered her to make enquiries as to where the Sealectro factory was. All we need is one mother lode score of a box of panels and pins in a forgotten cupboard...

Just doing some research into EMS pin matrix patch panels and found these photos of how they work. Somehow i thought it was more complicated, but thats an elegant solution.

It turns out original EMS panels were made by Sealectro in Farlington, literally about 10 minutes down the road from here!

That looks like that Grey Machine track sounds!

About 35 years ago i had a Saisho cassette deck that had the most ludicrous auto level compression i've ever heard. You'd record a CD onto tape and as soon as the drums kicked in the whole track disappeared. I'm guessing this was along the same lines?

Wise words for a better future!

Me: ok, well obviously i'm happy to try if chatGPT says so, with the caveat that this is going to be a very expensive lesson for you to learn... oh, and i'll be needing payment in advance. 😉

My thoughts precisely. I'm surprised he got in contact at all. Clearly with ChatGPT telling you how things are you don't need people who actually know what they're talking about.

Man who wants loads of midi functions added to a pioneer DJ controller refuses to believe it'd take months and cost thousands. Apparently ChatGPT told him rewriting the firmware and OS from scratch without any access to the original code or the hardware designs would be a simple job... 🤔

I can't imagine anyone really cares about copyright on a 40 year old Roland service manual, least of all Roland. It feels more like a matter of common decency!
circuitbenders.co.uk
Its a different transactional mindset. On the one hand theres "i really needed this manual and if i can help other people get hold of it then i'll feel good about it and so will they", and on the other hand theres "If i have some more money i'll feel good about it"
circuitbenders.co.uk
I've seen plenty of service manuals that actually have 'do not reproduce' notices added to the front or a watermark plastered across the schematics, by the very same people who have copied the manual and are now illegally reselling it!
circuitbenders.co.uk
I'm quite happy to buy an original paper copy of a service manual if it doesn't exist on the net, and then scan it and make it available for free if someone wants it, but surely actually selling scanned PDF copies of service manuals online is just outright theft isn't it?
