The Driving Under the Influence of Drugs Unit in my office has been awarded more than $1.3 million through the Impaired Driving Prosecution Grant from CA’s Office of Traffic Safety (“OTS”) to help reduce fatalities and injuries caused by drunk and drug-impaired drivers.

On the first anniversary of the 2025 unprecedented wildfires in Los Angeles, we remember those who were injured and lost their lives. We honor our first responders who battled courageously to save so many lives and property. My office continues our work to make Los Angeles a safer place for us all.

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Trafficking is a significant public safety issue in Los Angeles, particularly along areas like Figueroa Street, Western Avenue and Sepulveda Blvd. Disrupting the sex trafficking of minors has been a priority for my administration since day one.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman and I co-sponsored the Victim and Witness Protection Act, which was authored by Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo. Signed into law last month by Governor Gavin Newsom, it strengthens protections for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other crimes.
