The Northampton Department of Public Works will be offering two collection dates in January for tree recycling. Trees should be brought to the front, right parking lot of Smith Vocational High School, located at 80 Locust Street, on Saturday, January 3, 2026 and/or Saturday, January 10, 2026.

The City of Northampton has declared a Snow Emergency, effective December 27, 2025 at 12:01 AM.

It remains in effect until canceled and may last more than one night.

Mayor Sciarra was happy to help welcome the light of Hanukkah yesterday alongside Chabad of Northampton as part of the annual Grand Menorah Lighting downtown. The event featured music, doughnuts and latkes, and an incredible ice menorah.

The Northampton High School Environmental Club Styrofoam Collection event is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 8 - 10:30am at Northampton High School. For $5 per bag, you can get your clean white EPS foam, rigid packaging, styrofoam boxes, and EPS expanded polystyrene processed properly.
