Stop watering your lawn now. Due to continued high nitrate levels, an irrigation ban is in effect. This will lower demand so our treatment facilities can keep producing water that meets EPA safety standards. Violating the ban may result in water service being shut off. Thank you for doing your part.

We are now in Stage 2 of the Water Shortage Plan. Cut lawn watering by 50%. Skip car washes, water toys and filling the pool for now. Only run dishwashers and washing machines when full. If we all do our part now, we can keep our water safe and avoid more serious restrictions.

Warmer temperatures bring higher demand for water and nitrate levels are high in the rivers that supply our water. Central Iowa Water Works has activated Stage 1 of the Water Conservation Plan, which asks everyone to cut their irrigation by at least 25%.

The statement from Dallas County this week has inaccurate examples. 2024 was NOT a reassessment year in Iowa. Assessed values typically don't change unless the property is improved or sold. That means the tax increase shown is much higher than reality. Get all the details at Waukee.org/Tax.

Do you know where your property tax dollars go? In Iowa, property taxes are an important funding source for many services in the community. If you were to split a dollar of property taxes, only about 36 cents goes to fund your City government and the wide range of services we provide.
