Even LinkedIn now has viral threads about Yarvin, Thiel, Musk, DOGE/RAGE and the Network State. When social media’s copycat algorithm kicks in, you know the narrative is sticking.

Mickey 17 was fascinating. A techno-authoritarian colonial enterprise, ruling over a sort of network or patchwork state, an exploration of a transhumanist future, a Nazi/MAGA/Christian nationalist draped ruling society. Lots to talk about, but I’d hate to spoil it. Go see it.

Trying to understand America's current crisis without examining Tech Fascism (the "Dark Enlightenment," the "network state") is like analyzing 9/11 while ignoring Al Qaeda.
This isn't random chaos – it is an orchestrated attack by a small, dangerous, and determined group.

This is a very strange situation. In response to Costco’s shareholders having a modicum of normative ethics around the importance of diversity efforts, “activists” and “leftists” are responding by… buying memberships and consuming more goods. That on its own is weird; 1/6

Following my own advice. I’m reading a few things right now. One of which is Murakami’s After the Quake. I read 1/6 of the short stories last year and it was all the tropes I had heard about him in just ~20 pages. Finally came back to finish it and I’m on the last story. Not sure he’s my cup of tea.

If you’re hot and bothered by a Christian minister asking for mercy on the weak, but you’re making excuses for a billionaire drug addict throwing out a pair of sieg heil Nazi salutes from behind the presidential podium, you probably aren’t practicing the faith Jesus taught.

There’s a reaction that says to cut off anyone who doesn’t stand against what is happening in our country right now. While on one level, we all must do what we need to be able to get by and keep our zen, applying that as a maxim will only make things worse. Why? 1/2

Anyone else treated as a DH at your school site? In 6 years I’ve taught subjects in SpEd, H/SS, English, and IB. Geography, collab Bio, Math funds, IB ToK, English 9…. They sent out a Google sheet for course preferences this past week and I don’t know what to put down. I just want a job I guess? 🤷♂️

I’m a San Diego based teacher. My existence on social media as a young man was dysfunctional, & as an adult has been pretty restricted. I’m interested in being part of the creation of a better public sphere for communicative action, so I’ll try to get past my inhibitions that tell me not to share.

Žižek gives an interesting anecdote in “Like a Thief in Broad Daylight” to explain contradictions we reconcile every day. I shared this with my TOK students who were confused by the deadlines we had set for the EE vs the dates I was checking when they would be completed. 1/5
