I felt terrible keeping Sal in her bonnet of “please stop scratching and bleeding everywhere” but it was super cute while it lasted.

While we understand most people don’t have a full-time job organizing to push back against the Trump administration ... that is what the Democratic National Committee does. All day, every day. It has never been more important that we have a strong Democratic Party. It has never been more important that everybody who cares does something to fight back.

This morning's email to Sen Schiff, feel free to copy and re-tailor. Normally I'd rather call (after writing a script), but every email gets a (form) response, which gives me more ammunition for my next communication.
This morning, the Trump WH released a memo about their Make America Healthy Again commission. The commission statement refers to people with Autism, ADHD, asthma, auto-immune disease, and chronic illness as a “dire threat to the American people and our way of life”. This is the language of eugenics. Sen Schiff may not have cared when they came for Trans folk and immigrants, but surely he or someone he knows is in this next group? A medication I rely on have been called out by Sec Kennedy as one he wants to eliminate access to. In response to my last mail, Sen Schiff defended voting for some of Trump's cabinet nom's: "Some of the nominees appear qualified and suitable for their intended roles, irrespective of whether I agree with them on every issue." Even though he voted against Kennedy, voting yes for any of these noms is allowing the fascist machine to roll over all of us. Sen Schiff seems to think it's still business as usual. The United States is in what we in the corporate world call a "hypercare" situation. It means we need all hands on deck to push back at every opportunity and Sen Schiff needs to be seen acting, just like AOC and Jasmine Crockett have been actively working to support their communities, not making deals to leave early for long weekends (sorry bud, you don't get long weekends during constitutional crises). Until I see Sen Schiff actively standing up and fighting for the American people, I will assume he is complicit with this Administration and vote accordingly.

Article II, Section II of the Constitution gives the President the power to make executive and judicial appointments with the "advice and consent" of the Senate. I take the advice and consent responsibility seriously and will be evaluating each of the President’s nominees rigorously to ensure that qualified and appropriate candidates enter the Executive and Judicial branches of the government. Some of the nominees appear qualified and suitable for their intended roles, irrespective of whether I agree with them on every issue. Unfortunately, some of the other nominees President-elect Trump has announced, including Kash Patel, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Pete Hegseth, hold highly problematic and extreme positions that are inconsistent with the law enforcement, national security, health care and other needs and priorities of the American people. I look forward to the opportunity to learn more about the President's nominees, evaluate their records, and consider their nominations when they come up for a vote on the Senate Floor. Please know that I will consider each of the President's nominees individually on their merits and commitment to serving the public interest. Transparency has been a goal of mine throughout my time in Congress. You can find detailed information on every bill introduced in the Senate on Congress.gov, including the summary and full text of the legislation, which Senators have co-sponsored it, and the most recent action taken by Congress.

Baby Marcie and Sal from Winter 2022/2023. They are ~2 month old fuzzy tuxedo kittens placed on their backs. Marcie is leaning into Sal, and Sal has a derpy expression. Our little girl had an emergency vet visit this morning (finally got that asthma diagnosis!) so naturally, her brother has been super stressed and needed the distraction of YouTube to calm down.
