My favourite thing my iPad (11” Pro, M1) does is this: I’m working on something in a tab in Safari, and it suddenly goes “welp, memory, Imma just reload that for you”, and I’m like, “motherfucker!”, as what was undoubtedly the best internet comment ever crafted is lost, like tears in the rain.

All of Tahoe’s iconography is “astigmatism simulator 2025 edition” for me.

Reminders and Photos are the worst offenders, but it’s pretty bad across the board.

2021-25 was peak icon here. The shield thing has no meaning outside the US.

I, too, was hoping for yet another way to generate AI slop and accelerate our descent into a post-truth hellscape.

On the bright side, it might kill off the death penalty, because every defence lawyer will be able to put forward the “the evidence was deepfaked, m’lud” argument, and the prosecution will struggle to overcome it.

The Mac Pro is a product without a purpose, given the Studio’s existence.

Sure, there will be some people who need all those slots on an Apple Silicon machine, but that’s the nicheiest niche that ever niched.

It’s the low-level ineptitude I find most amusing.

Text on a path is a basic PhotoShop/Illustrator function - draw shape, click text tool, hover over shape until wavy line appears, click, type.

This looks like they placed each character individually, by hand.

You could say it’s a horsehare demon.

There was a time - a shining, glorious time - when it was unequivocally the best, least annoying search engine.

Now, it’s worse than *Bing*.

Bing!

Dunno what’s worse. The racism, the pathetically obvious lie, or the fact the fuckwit is a member of a party that spent fourteen years not fixing this terrible “problem”.

Thankfully, it’s Robert Jenrick, and no-one gives a shit what he thinks.

Like the Humane Pin and that orange Rabbit thing, it’ll be shit.

Perhaps I’m wrong.

Bet I’m not, though.

Some of the drink-driving PIFs are brutally effective - the one with the barman especially.

And that one where the woman’s killer is in the back seat.

Belt up or this car’s not going anywhere, my passengers!

Linehan’s quest to melt down his entire life by being a complete arsehole about something that doesn’t affect him in the slightest will never not entertain and bamboozle me.

This one never gets old.

I have one fancy watch - an Omega Seamaster. It works without a cellular or wireless signal, can be brought to full charge in 30 seconds, is waterproof to 600 metres, will never require charging if worn daily, and looks 100% cooler than pulling out your phone to check the time, like a dork.

I’d have that cooker in my house, but it would be 100% ornamental. Induction hob, cold dead hands, etc.

Tahoe is a visual disaster, devoid of any spark of life or creativity. It’s yet another Apple interface designed to look very slick in the keynote, where beautiful people with beautiful smiles do beautiful things with their beautiful products in beautiful places, and actual usability be damned.
September 1, 2025 at 5:38 AM
Apple’s entire UI ethos at the moment can be described as “joyless”.
August 16, 2025 at 7:42 AM
All delightful in their own way. All will be an absolute pain in the arse to maintain, with a smorgasbord of recurring issues, expensive and hard-to-source parts, and the inevitable tinworm.

Old cars are like beagles: I very much enjoy *other peoples’* old cars, but wouldn’t want to own one myself.

So much of Tahoe is seemingly designed to make me doubt the effectiveness of my optical prescription.

You should put Fallow on the list, if you haven’t already.
