Song of the Lower Classes comes from the Chartist movement in the UK in the 1830s-40s, which was crushed in its own time. Today we would consider their demands, like a secret ballot, as the basics of democracy. For us, this speaks to the importance of fighting for things beyond one’s own lifetime
