If I told my grad school self that one day I would willingly sit down on a Sunday morning to read someone's dissertation, for fun, she would have a break down

ACTION ITEM-----ACTION ITEM

Implementation of Schedule F

This is what a lot of us have been worried about.

This allows for many civil service positions to replaced with political appointees. This could include NIH institute directors and even POs.

BUT THERE IS A COMMENT PERIOD...

Federal research cuts impact local economies, and stall progress.

Publish an opinion piece in your hometown paper on June 16th to SPREAD THE WORD about how scientific research contributes to the everyday health and wealth of the general public.

Sadly the press continues to be complicit by failing to report accurately on what is happening. This is not a "DEI purge". This is the systematic erasure of the important contributions of Black historical figures. The erasure is rooted in re-segregation and racism.

Jackie Robinson’s Army career wiped from military website in DEI purge
At least one website about Robinson, who trained as an officer and was assigned to a tank regiment during World War II, was reinstated Wednesday afternoon.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

The Treasury Department right now. People are turning out against Musk and DOGE staging a takeover of the Treasury’s payment system. This crowd is big. The whole block is packed. “Lock him up,” everyone yells.

USAID matters. I've often disagreed with their strategy and choices, but their work saves more lives than any philanthropy can. It's a rounding error in the federal budget, and one of the best things we do as a country. To see it destroyed overnight by one unelected man is an unmitigated horror.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

Wrote a poem on the train today.
How many more poets would we have if America left behind its car dependency and invested in public transportation?
I'd rather have thousands of terrible poems than morning traffic.
