This class was one of my favorites that I have taken at DU. I think with each museum visit I was able to engage more with the pieces and my understanding of contemporary art evolved to encompass more. #ConArtInSitu

The senior capstone exhibit we visited last week made me feel seen in my childhood experiences. The pieces that stood out to me were ones that I found connected me to childlike curiosities. #ConArtInSitu

“Playing Girly” by Syd Lee encapsulates femininity as an abstract concept. However, it is also nostalgic because of a lot of shared experiences among young girls. #ConArtInSitu

"Lowlands" created by Alexandra Kehayoglou exemplifies ways that artists in Biophilia have created environmental activist art out of nonconventional materials. This piece in particular uses wool to portray the lowlands of Argentina (where Alexandra is from). #ConArtInSitu

Williams speaks about how contextualizing art works and artists will deepen the connection with the piece. I agree in that the artists’ experiences should be studied to understand the work as much as one can. #ConArtInSitu
