Those are independent issues.
It’s a great idea for all levels to have an ownership stake. Get employees invested in the long term success.
But of course also the salary has to be enough for them to be comfortable in that they are meeting needs / family / etc.

What I’m suggesting is because of their lack of transparency, that is consistent with how a lawyer would advise an employer to speak about terminating for cause.

And they may have been advised by lawyers to say almost nothing until they have had a chance to go through some specific legal steps.
