Just now reading Scott Anderson’s terrific book on Iran, King of Kings. The parallels from then to this moment are stark. Same dynamic it seems. Ironic of course that the sides are switched.

Exactly. Was just thinking about this. There is no viable “opposition” in Cuba. Nor a leader in exile. No assets to snatch. Little Marco would indeed have to be placed as Viceroy. For the feels.
