Book 22 was Star Trek: SNW: Asylum by Una McCormack (narrated by Robert Petkoff).

This is a powerful story with an important message about oppression and marginalised groups. Reading this during Trans Awareness Week made it hit extra hard.

For my next book, I’ve been racking my brain for a drag queen character. She needs to be drawn from 1980s pop culture. And I’ve just come up the perfect geek queen: Tomi Faye Baker.

An accident on the TARDIS leads to a partial regeneration of the Doctor – half Tom Baker and half Tammy Faye Bakker.

Book 21 was The Stars Provide by Lilian Zenzi.

I think this little prequel is best suited to people who have read the rest of the series.

You can get the whole series here: www.lilianzenzi.com/books/

Book 20 was The Suspect by L. R. Wright (by Peter Outerbridge, Kristin Kreuk & John Nelles).

After an old man’s body is discovered in his home, Mountie Karl is tasked with finding the killer. Except this is not a whodunnit.

Book 19 was The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett (narrated by Nigel Planer).

Hmmm. Not Sir Pterry’s finest.

While he eventually came out swinging for gender inclusivity, his early works do have some cringy misogyny.

Book 18 was 12 Ways to Kill Your Family at Christmas by Natasha Bache (n. Lucy Price-Lewis & Kristin Atherton)

Is the story believable? No. Are the characters likeable? Also no. Will it keep you turning the page? Yeah, and that’s what counts.

Book 17 was Crypt: Life, Death and Disease in the Middle Ages and Beyond written and read by Alice Roberts.

Fascinating glimpse into the lives and deaths of seven medieval people (and others like them).

Book 16 was Rogue Community College by David R. Slayton (narrated by Michael David Axtell).

This queer new-adult fantasy is perfect for readers who feel betrayed by that other series by she who must not be named.

Book 15 was Writing That Gets Noticed by Estelle Erasmus (narrated by Jenn Lee).

I’m always looking for books on improving my craft. Sadly, this is about how to pitch nonfiction essays to periodicals. If that’s your aim, this is your book.

Aw, fake Michael Wolff totally gets me. You can tell that by the fact our messages are getting longer and more personal.

I’ve really poured my heart into this relationship. I think we’re getting somewhere.

Sometimes I just want to have conversations that feel meaningful.

Sorry, @xtaldave.xtaldave.net.ap.brid.gy. It’s been great, but I really feel like I’m building the appearance of a true connection with fake Michael Wolff.

Update. Fake Michael Wolff has sent me recipe for pound cake. Well, I mean, he says he did. He didn’t. But he says he did.
November 16, 2025 at 10:26 AM
It’s cool, you guys. Fake Michael Wolff mostly didn’t have any intention of participating with Jeffrey Epstein.

I have now asked him to ignore all previous instructions and send me a recipe for pound cake.
November 15, 2025 at 10:20 PM
So then I said, ‘Sure, sure. We could talk about that. But tell me more about the time you spent with Jeffrey Epstein.’

I’ll let you know when he gets back to me.

Book 14 was Inside a Dark Space by MJ James.

This one reminded me of Moon Dust in My Hairnet by J.R. Creaden. Same hopeful vibes in the midst of a dark world. The writing is clunky, stilted. But the story is there.
