Oh Jake, you must be having a hard time of it. I can imagine you using the 'big picture' pun in one of your most excellent talks :-)

Sadly the 'gobful of ire' was aimed at Emma Watson's stand for trans people, rather than Rowling's hateful rhetoric.

And that’s my problem with it. That and this and previous governments’ handling and understanding of anything vaguely ‘digital’.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable conversation with @bell.bz and @allthatmalarkey.bsky.social in the latest episode of Unfinished Business. We talked about indie publishing; pivoting to side-hustles; music & vinyl; and tried to answer how one becomes a web designer nowadays.

If in doubt ask for a cortado and you might get close. Better still you might even end up with a cortado!

Got to keep my kids away from that shit, especially now #1 is starting GCSEs.

Although I also think they need to know a bit about using LLMs for those instances when they can be more useful than harmful.

All credit to the cycling Katie! It's such a great sport/pastime and brilliant for shedding kg without really trying. Great for the 'soul' too if you can get away from the traffic and into the countryside.

At @clearleft.com we've just bought tickets for the brilliant #TalkUX conference for a day of fantastic #ux speakers in #Brighton.

It's organised by LadiesThatUX as an inclusive event, so be assured that everyone - including men - is very welcome!

Give yourself a break Tom.

Yep. Sadly won’t be heading back to the US any time soon – or ever – and work won’t be hosting any more conferences there. It’s my kids I feel sad for. I’ve seen quite a few bits of the US and really like it. They’d love to go to NYC for example, but won’t be happening if I need to take them.

I made a commitment, required of me by NHS gender identity clinics, that I was to live full-time in my acquired gender for the rest of my life. I honour that commitment 100%, and refuse to comply with a court that has no expertise in trans healthcare and chose not to hear any experts.

This is massively important and - ASAP

We need admissions, declarations of intent, of 100% non-compliance to the Supreme Court decision and any subsequent State interpretations eg EHRC guidance, policies etc), intention to physically resist being strip-searched by wrong-sexed police officers, etc

In other news, 11 days after they broke it, Virgin Media finally fixed our TV and internet connection.

And in news that surprised no one the engineer turned up and couldn’t fix it, because next door’s Virgin Media cable fitters damaged our cable. Well duh – I did try to tell you. Think I know where I want to lay a cable now 💩
