I guess I’m one of the few people on earth who doesn’t mind the presence of the tip screen at registers. Like, just bypass it if you don’t want to use it. But also I don’t mind tossing in 50 cents or $1 because even though they didn’t serve me at a table they still prepared my stuff.

Same. We only use them for a tiny amount of our collection and only started working with them a couple years ago, but many public libraries will be severely impacted by this.
