i mean and like.. *gestures broadly* there's all the cool spiritual practice stuff and finding out hidden things, but I'm not going to talk like those things are worth it or make up for the rest of the 12th house experiences. Also it's not exactly fun understanding hidden things others do not.

That does sound difficult. [Not knowing the condition of your 5H], I have my L5 in Capricorn 12th. When I have 12th house activations by profection, it's a weird mix of difficulties, but also some fun experiences, romance, gifts from others - some of it problematic, but some not. depends on what your 12th house is. Who is in there, who rules it etc. I am from the 12th and while most of it sucks, sometimes there are good things, but I have my own little recipe.

But if one isn't able to or isn’t interested in paying attention to life/themselves/their surroundings a long with the movements of the sky, and isn’t able to reflect on experiences and their meaning, astrology is going to be difficult to practice/apply beyond understanding the concepts and theory.

There's no right or wrong/good or bad. Some people's attention is elsewhere, for all kinds of reasons.
