Very sad news that Jane Goodall a guardian, a leader, an inspiration, has passed. A number of years ago I was very fortunate to meet her. She defined strength, and grace. May her profound influence drive us forward.

In the run up to the US entry into WWII my father’s family got death threats because they advocated for fighting the fascists over there. They took turns sitting on the front porch w a shotgun. My father and his siblings were Antifa. I have never been anything but.Never give in!

The gentle thud of walnuts hitting the ground resonates. The sound summons now as in time immemorial the beginning of the harvest. Nuts consumed on the nearest elevated platform, or stowed whole in the cooling ground a reminder of cycles that predate our predation.
