I like to talk to people of all political persuasions. Work in a university in Scotland.
Seems to me increasingly like the public are wising up. Or at least putting a lot less faith in all of them than they used to.

Not what I usually associate with Kandinsky!

Completely agree. Also that they don't seem to think about research at all, which sits in DSIT, and is apparently part of their industrial strategy. Lots of good research going under if unis fail. They're so shortsighted.

Is it also partly ideological? Too many working class people getting degrees = ballooning of the lanyard classes? I happened to encounter Glasman's thoughts today...

It's fine, but a near zero number of voters have a clue about bond markets

Goodbye to arts and humanities, was fun while it lasted

There's an argument to be made somewhere between 'bond markets' and 'immigration', which is about asking people to contribute to the public good, and recognising those different contributions. Not holding my breath.

Isn't the point that populists aren't obliged to pay attention to financial markets though, unless they make it to government? Most people have absolutely no idea how this works. Also being scammed, or worrying about it, is an everyday occurrence in a way that it wasn't 20 years ago.

Alien Resurrection 😞

Fwiw, Cummings was gone almost immediately after Biden was elected. They had been banking on a second Trump term and couldn't push through their ridiculous ambitions re Ireland any more. Cue sad images of him outside Downing Street

Was the will of the people

You say 'simple', but you are massively over simplifying.
November 22, 2025 at 12:44 AM
Not really though
November 21, 2025 at 10:43 PM
This is going to cause arguments up and down the country by people interrogating women for no reason at all
November 21, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Can absolutely understand the argument about cis people making it about them though. The whole proposal is just so egregiously evil and stupid and authoritarian.

Aware that I did this yesterday and was very much intended in the spirit of solidarity, apologies.

If I saw a woman being challenged I would definitely need to speak up, but what if the person behind me waded in on the other side? These sorts of arguments will happen all over the country I think
November 21, 2025 at 6:03 PM
They underestimate us constantly, and not only voters. Most people do want to have a say in how we are governed
November 20, 2025 at 11:43 PM
Think they were assuming that our eyesight was as bad as Cummings'
November 20, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Will honestly never forgive them all. Was like watching a slow motion car crash where the driver is drunk and the car is the entire country
November 20, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Am enraged all over again. It was blindingly obvious at the time that none of these people understood exponential growth. Can only imagine the reports they were getting from hospitals which made them change course
November 20, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Couldn’t agree more. We all know which people are threatening women at the moment and they're not lurking in toilets.
