In May of 1597 a reference is made in the Register of the Great Seal of Scotland that James Forsyth of Nydie was a witness in legal matters. Nyie was located in Fife Scotland which was the home of the Forsyths in the late 16th century .

My 5th Great grandparents were Mathew Forsyth and Janet Lang. they lived from about 1710 to 1776. The Battle of Culloden was in 1746. Which side would they have supported? Answers I probably will never know. What I do know is they married in New Monkland 5 July 1735 and had 4 children. #Forsyth
