Most happy hanging out with nature and my macro lens. Walking, gardening, amateur botany and entomology. Willow basket weaving, music - not necessarily in that order.

Out on my local chalk downland nature reserve in the borough of Croydon this week, I was surprised to see this flying up the hillside feeding at birds-foot trefoil. I think it is a Narro-bordered Bee Hawk-moth. Is this an unusual siting for the SE? #moths

I was watching 2 male Big-headed Mining Bees staking out the entrance to their nest. They were pouncing on almost every female leaving or entering the nest. Sometimes they successfully mated but often they were fought off. @ianbeavis.bsky.social #bees

The White Bryony in our garden is growing really well this year. Last year to was getting eaten by the slug plague. I worried that the WB Ladybirds would have nothing to eat, but there are three adults out and about. 😊 @bsbibotany.bsky.social #wildflowers #Ladybirds #Entomology #Nature
