Delighted to hear @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social highlight AI in Dudley's stroke care today. AI is helping all England's stroke units diagnose and treat stroke quicker. But access to key stroke treatments like thrombectomy is still a postcode lottery. Good progress but we need to go further

Yet more evidence of the health inequalities connected to stroke. Air pollution significantly increases the risk of stroke. @thestrokeassoc.bsky.social calls on the government to meet World Health Organisation standards to reduce pollution and protect stroke survivors. [email protected]

Great to hear @drkevinfong.bsk.social on @BBCToday on the incredible difference AI tools are making to stroke diagnostics. More investment in stroke innovations like this could massively improve the lives of the UK's 1.4m stroke survivors. @thestrokeassoc.bsky.social

We have to think radically - In the next 10 years, the number of stroke survivors is set to increase by 60%, costing the Government £75 billion. Almost 90% of strokes are preventable.

This @hsj.co.uk piece from @chrisbnaylor.bsky.social totally nails it- lots of good stuff on CVD prevention in the 10 Year Health Plan but will only have impact if accompanied by some radical shifts in incentives including fiscal levers. www.hsj.co.uk/policy-and-r...

We talk constantly about "crossroads moments" for the NHS but tomorrow's Plan is a definite make or break point - with growing public dissatisfaction & Reform backing "radical surgery". No pressure @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social! www.ft.com/content/4a00...
The future of the NHS
Britons are growing less fond of their troubled healthcare system. Will Labour’s 10-year plan change their minds?

🚀 Expectations for this week’s 10 Year Health Plan are sky-high.

In this blog, @clarewoodford.bsky.social (Stroke Association) & Helen Kirrane (Diabetes UK), singled out the four issues most vital to the people their charities support, which they are hoping to see addressed.

This graphic shows a cartoon computer monitor with a webpage showing a blog title of, ‘The new 10 Year Plan: Our hopes and expectations.’ To the left of the blog title is a picture of the authors, Clare Woodford and Helen Kirrane, depicting a two white woman with light short hair and the other with long brunette hair. Under the title reads the text, ‘Expectations for this week’s 10 Year Health Plan are sky-high. In October 2024, the Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Wes Streeting launched “the biggest ever national conversation” on the NHS. Charities like ours went out far and wide to talk to our communities, bringing the voices of lived experience and professionals into the conversation.’ The bottom right of the graphic shows the National Voices logo.
