Dic Penderyn (Richard Lewis) - "Wales' first working-class martyr" - was hanged today in 1831 for his supposed role in the Merthyr Rising riots. His final words were "O Arglwydd, dyma gamwedd" (Oh Lord, here is iniquity). This is his final resting place in St Mary's, Port Talbot.
