They sort of did in Scotland. Robert le Brus? Anglo-Norman. William le Waleys? Anglo-Norman. They did acculturate a bit better than their Southern Anglo-Norman relatives, though.

Surveys like these are notoriously unreliable. People may be effectively secular in their daily lives, but tick "Catholic" on a form out of some form of family tradition or nostalgia. Or they may hold deep beliefs, but not in a way that shows up in the hide-bound categories on a form.
