To clarify, breaking up wasn't the abuse.

You can absolutely break up with me if you realize we're not meant to be or whatever, that's your right.

What's not right is to bad mouth me to people who don't even know me and then make me feel like sharing my pain with my friends is the same thing.

People are allowed to mourn and hurt and it is not the same as going to someone's boss and get them fired because they broke your heart.

In our freelance world, it's the same as going to someone and getting them blocked from jobs and opportunities they are qualified for because they did meet

Being hurt in private to your close friends is not the same as actively causing people to lose opportunities and getting them rejected for jobs.

For one, I am not in the position of authority to do that and for second, I'm allowed to be hurt among my friends when a bad break up happens.
