Supporting the teaching of classics across the southwest of England.
February's book: The Mercian Chronicles: King Offa and the Birth of the Anglo-Saxon State, AD 630–918 by Max Adams

We teach about Roman Britain, but late antique Britain hardly ever comes up in classics, so I'm excited to explore this book and see what links we can make.

First thoughts on Friday.

A good book is a real joy. If we can claim it as CPD, that's all the better. To that end, I'm launching 'Ad Fontes' - an asynchronous bookclub here on Bluesky. Each month, I'll share a book I'm reading and then post weekly reflections on the knowledge as I work through.

First book details incoming!

Toen ik in Amsterdam woonde, was het @rijksmuseum.bsky.social mijn favoriete plek. Ik ben blij dat het Rijksmuseum aandacht besteedt aan Ovidius.
🎨This year, the @rijksmuseum.bsky.social smuseum in Amsterdam has opened a new exhibition on Ovid's Metamorphoses, featuring an array of paintings inspired by the ancient Roman poet.

Comment your favourite artistic reimagining of Ovid's Metamorphoses below! 👇

Have you ever wondered about the links between #sociology and #classics? Take a look at Maria Wiśniewska’s excellent article which takes a sociological look at Odysseus.
