Red, rounded, autumn tempts me into the damp outside

What an intriguing object (new to me) cleverly ergonomic, and with good comparative examples putting it into context. Thanks for sharing that.

Well done!
Research that takes you into a sideline...I'm so familiar with that unnerving situation, but sometimes it is fantastic: like your discoveries!

We had black swans living wild on a marshy inlet, nearby, in coastal county Cork, years ago. Why is this one fenced in, in an overgrazed, barren paddock like a zoo, it seems sadly unnatural as a habitat, for this wild bird.

Yes the little figures working so hard to hold the font up, on their shoulders, are wonderful. What a great photo, thankyou for sharing it!

Who needs swathes of badly coloured sticky notes (leaving remnants of glue) when a good length of ribbon pinned onto a board makes a far nicer wall mounted arrangement for temporary reminders?

Projections of U.S. President Donald Trump, Britain's Prince Andrew and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were put on display against the walls of Windsor Castle while Trump was in Britain for a state visit.

I enjoyed this talk so much, learned so much of importance (including how deadly poisonous this elegantly 'rewilded' flower is growing up our pear tree)!

Well done, & is it yet available in UCC library to borrow, or UCC bookshop perhaps?

Jam did spring to mind! Your presentation was great yesterday, but there wasn't enough time for anything but such a brief talk (I had to dash away before the reception)

Brilliantly inspiring presenters for today's symposium in Uni College Cork, for example Prof Claire Connolly MRIA, Feargal Keane & Eoin Reardon who brought some of his vernacular-inspired furniture: celebrating 100 yrs of publishing by Cork University Press @ucc.ie @ucclibrary.bsky.social @ria.ie
5 Speakers seated to answer questions from the audience after their presentations, including Prof Claire Connolly MRIA 2nd from right, & Eoin Reardon, woodworker & social media influencer, centre. Author Claudia Kinmonth stands with woodworker Eoin Reardon. He is holding a copy of her latest book, 'Irish country furniture & furnishings 1700-2000' (Cork University Press, 2020) that he had been telling the audience about. Beside him is a chair & a stool typical of what he makes. Author reporter Fergal Keane at the podium discussing realism and journalism and the Atlas of the Irish Revolution Eoin Reardon at the podium talking about the sugan chairs & three legged stools that he makes

I read about a system used at the height of the Great Famine in the 1840s in S.W.Ireland, where a coffin with a trap door base was used to transport bodies to a graveyard. your v. worn one presumably used the cake & cake tin system instead... What do you think Gillian? @gillianobrien.bluesky.social

Especially good to see both depictions of her wheel, each centering on motifs resembling apotropaic hexafoils. Shorthand, simplified versions seem to crop up on various challenging materials.
claudiakinmonth.bsky.social
Apotropaic presumably, what sort of date, & where on the floor plan? Like the 17thC tester bed at St Fagans Museum of History, featuring a carved archer with bow & large arrow, the word DEATH, 15 hexafoils & several lozenge shapes etc. Anything to help get a restful night's sleep?

Bring back that elegant idea to replace plastic! Suggest small deposit & return scheme to help reuse would also reduce energy use. Clever Romans (not always but often)!
claudiakinmonth.bsky.social
Good to see the apotropaic hexafoil hiding in plain sight, almost invariably, like here, put slightly off a centrally symmetrically axis. It's a deliberately understated one, yet it's ubiquitous, from Pompeii in mosaic AD 79 & throughout Ireland a 'marigold' cut in stone, wood, plaster, pewter etc

Do you perhaps know if it's in the public domain, as I'd love to obtain a hi res image?
