Well, we’ve been without power for a bit over half an hour now…

Not too many power outages in the Seattle area for now with the vast majority concentrated in northeast Seattle (~12,000 customers)

Great summary of the event from Joe as per usual.

Much of the mountains receiving rain (instead of snow) has led to the extreme streamflows on the mountain-fed Snoqualmie, Snohomish, and Skagit rivers.

See the unofficial record temperatures over the Western US yesterday (from coolwx.com/record)

Federal Way Downtown:

Besides the fact that this station is confusingly named as a “downtown” station, it probably has the best land use. Pulling the station away from I-5 means the land around the station can a destination and not just a pass through.

Star Lake Station:

Possibly the worst siting (see above post). Much of the area nearby is wetlands

Kent Des Moines Station:

Near Highline College but surrounded by highways

(Highline College actually advocated for the station to be on the west side of SR99 but ultimately lost)

Happy these stations are opening, but putting these stations next to I-5 was an own goal and extremely short sighted. Below is a look at the land use of the stations

It’s crazy to me that in the UK cars don’t have to (and don’t) stop for pedestrians unless there is a zebra crossing.

Like not even at crossings with pedestrian islands…

With the latest update, Katie Wilson leads with 1,976 votes ahead of Bruce Harrell. Given historical precedent, highly unlikely a recount would change the result.

Also almost out of automatic recount territory (2,000 vote difference)

Katie Wilson widens her lead to 1,346 votes now. Still within the 2,000 vote recount threshold.

Katie Wilson leads by 91 votes after today’s drop!!!

An active convergence zone today has led to some decent rainfall totals, particularly east of Lake Washington. Widespread 1-2”

Not a great picture of the lunar eclipse but I captured the important part…the clouds…they’re beautiful!

I’m pretty sure that just means it exploded…

I’m a little late on the #wxtwitter transition…but finally moving over to this app now. As an introduction, I am a PhD student studying convective organization, defending in January!

Been enjoying some beautiful atmospheric optical phenomena recently.
