Hi! My name is Gary or “G”, and l’m building a hempcrete show home in Medicine Park, OK, in the style of an 1870’s “Old West” house with Spanish/Mexican influences. It’ll be an educational center to demonstrate renewable, sustainable housing techniques.
www.facebook.com/share/p/12Ec.... The most amazing and important redux in modern human history may be the renaissance of plant based housing construction materials. Hemp & bamboo are the world’s major players. And hemp is the MVP. How can we tell this story? #michaelpollan #NYT #hemp #plantbased

Hempers designing roof insulation systems can benefit from the disasters caused by poor spray foam applications. One tiny error with spray foam can destroy a entire house. So Mortgage companies are skittish & are now favoring hemp insulation solutions over spray foam. @hempcretequeen.bsky.social

www.facebook.com/share/r/1Gow... It’s a 4,000 year old Love Affair.. Humans marrying lime plaster with wood lathe. Insulation of natural fibrous plant materials would later insulate these walls. Entire wall systems breathing.. transferring air.… capturing CO2 as they strengthened.

The same lime/pozzalon recipes we use today, followed the Roman Empire into Turkey and Constantinople. Lime and its plant & mineral based aggregates have been providing humans clean, safe, affordable housing for thousands of years. Study hempcrete. @nytimes.com @dallasmorningnews.bsky.social

Tradical, the British hempcrete company tells it like it is. The unvarnished truth. You either live in a Healthy Hemp Home, or inhale carcinogenic VOC’s for the next 20 years. It’s your choice…

My project was gaining a lot of followers on “X”, but just being there, seeing the filth and hatred and division of Musk and Donny and MAGA made my skin crawl. So l’m leaving “X” and starting all over here! I only have 5 followers now, but hopefully l can teach folks about hempcrete home building.

Curious about the Pro’s & Con’s of “hempwool” and hempcrete? Harry’s blog attached here, has an excellent short description of each. Check it out.

My Hempcrete construction podcast group is on “X” because l’m told we can talk about the 15,000 different uses of Cannabis. Can marijuana and hemp be discussed on Blue-sky?
“x” is such a filthy, tyrannical, cesspool of rant. I’ve never seen anything so disgusting in my life.

Studying Lime Mortars today: This is an alley behind a water cistern tower in San Gimignano, Italy. See the loose mortar that’s fallen out of the masonry? That’s ok. The lime is softer than the stone, expanding and contracting, saving the wall. The lime sacrifices itself so the wall may live on.

Lime’s Roman Past: San Gimignano is a 13th Century Italian town in Tuscany. From a distance it looks like a modern city skyline. But look closer. The towers act as both guard posts and as water cisterns during military sieges. Lime plasters have been storing safe drinking water here for centuries.

Lime Plaster’s Roman Past: When Julius Caesar started the Gallic Wars in 58BCE, his Engineering Officers wanted Gaul’s (France) hydraulic lime quarries. Because hydraulic lime mixed with volcanic ash (Pozzalon) sets under water. And with this they could build cisterns & underwater shipping piers.

Time Travel:
I want the Medicine Park cabins to be a throwback to the Old World style of the 1870’s. I love the minimalist look of Spanish Colonial and Tex-Mex ranch houses. Distressed lime plaster walls, pillars, floors, wood beam ceilings.
I call it Elegant Minimalism.
Simple & Salvaged.

I’ve fallen in love with Lime & Clay plasters. The trick is to keep everything lime based so it remains “breathable”. Paints must be specifically made to be air permeable. Lime putty, paints & washes are the best. The photos l’m posting are examples of the Old World style l want in my hemp home!

The largest solar panel on Earth? Yup, it’s Hemp! Because Hemp (and bamboo) is tight growing, very closely together; absorbing sunlight photons and Co2 gases into every square centimeter of leaf.
Hemp’s virtual blanket of leaves absorbs more Co2 than twice the acreage of an arboreal forest.

Is Hempcrete Fireproof?
Well, the Fire Rating test facilities in the U.S., Canada, France and Australia are all in agreement - this hempcrete stuff just won’t burn!
Ref: ASTM E119, 1hr @ 1,700F. So hempcrete is now in the IRC Residential Code Book (Appx BL), to guide building inspectors! Yea!

Hurricanes in Appalachia, 10 years straight of Record Setting Heat, L.A. in flames?
The impact of Global Warming is here, earlier than predicted!
Hempcrete both sequesters Co2 + easily passes the ASTM E119 (1,700F) 1hour fire test. Hempcrete’s also now in the 2024 IRC codebook Appendix BL.
