🌱 🌹 Part 1 of 11.Right. So, those low temperatures are expected here for this coming week. BUT, I can always browse the record of my roses from the summer of 2024. The original clip is 21 min, and 23 sec long. I reduced the clips I am sharing here to 57-59 sec to comply with the video restrictions.

The “snow storm” was an “ice storm” for me. In the morning, I went out to assess the damage. Some of my arborvitae at the east garden were bent to the ground; as were others. I hoped that the ice would quickly melt; which it did, and the plants would straitened up on their own; which they did.

🌱 🥀 🌨️ ❄️ Last evening it started to snow in Durham, NC; and I am starting to experience cabin fever.😂 I lived in NYC from 1970 to 2002, and in northern NJ from 2002 to 2019 (when I moved to NC). So, I am not new to snow. But I worry for my roses. I hope that, in their slumber, they are protected.🤞🏻

🌱 🌹I woke up to 22° Fahrenheit this morning. My rose garden has been winterized to the best of my ability; which is not great. I fear that my roses (95% of them in containers) are not going to make it through this winter. I am hopeful. My grandson help me winterize the roses.😁👍🏻

Sunday night, time for “a little night music”…not the Mozart one, though. Here are 57 seconds of Alberto Ginastera’s Milonga.🤷🏻‍♂️

🌱 Ghosts in the Garden. 🪴 👻
We had our first killer frost a couple of days ago. Actually, it was a two-day event. The weather calendar tells me that there will be many more to come. I did not have time to use the bubble wrap, or mulch each of the pots. I will do that; and then bring the ghosts back.

🌱 Roses behind bars…how sad is that? In my case, though, it is a necessity. If the temperature calendar for the end of this month, and the entire month of December is correct, I must get ready to protect all of my container roses. The rose bushes in the East Garden are in ground; so they are 1/4

After browsing a David Austin Roses catalogue, I feel that I need to refinance my house in order to purchase ALL the roses that I truly want.😳🤓
Desdemona is for my wife. We enjoy Ralph Vaughan Williams’ music. There is no Serenade to Music. The Lark Ascending, it is, then. The list grows after that.

I will end up Friday with a flash of music. I tried to upload the clip, but only 60 second videos are allowed. I chopped the beginning and the end. I ended up with 54 seconds. 😂 So, here are a few seconds of Ernesto Lecuona’s Andalucía. It still needs cleaning up a bit.

Friday morning rose. This rose is called the “At Last Rose.” It does have a wonderful fragrance. Every time that I say its name, it reminds me of the song by Etta James.

My profile mentions miniature cities. I will explain.I began collecting Department 56’s miniature (Christmas) lighted buildings since 1995. It used to be only a Christmas time event when these buildings were displayed by collectors everywhere. Now these displays keep popping up throughout the year.
