I'm the wife. I'm also terrified that if I get sick I will be denied care and removed. Or if something happens to the husband- will they take ILR off me then? Or citizenship because I got it through being married to him?

This volunteering thing. What a great idea to make EVERY SINGLE CITIZEN do voluntary work! How about starting at the local refugee centres??? I used to be a volunteer swim coach but TBH why should I now? And if I have a salary minimum to meet I think I might be too busy working to meet that.

It is unbelievable how ignorant people are of it - Mahmood being one of them. People seem to think I set foot in the country and was automatically given ILR. And could go straight on "benefits". They have no idea of the process or the cost or the restrictions.

Me too. I have bills back to 2012 when I first applied for entry clearance. Then 2 1/2 years later for definite leave to remain, and 2 1/2 years later for ILR. No recourse to public funds and a health surcharge to be paid. And international student fees if I wished to study.
