I'm a huge lore nerd, so reading about some of these machines are just amazing! Mechs made out of "living?" nano-machines, Mechs from the future? It's just so inventive and fun.

Totally agree. I was running a 5e game where one of the players rolled up a gunslinger. He squeezed off a round inside of a small space with his entire party next to him. I essentially had them deafened for 1d4 rounds. It seemed appropriate.

It depends. As someone who primarily ingests APs as their main source of entertainment I can say it has to fit my mood. I'll go Dimension 20 for something polished and tight. If I want to hear more of a natural narrative with the "home game" feel I'll go with something like Glass Cannon's GITT.
