BC’s 2021 atmospheric river led to massive flooding and landslides that cut off the Port of Vancouver—the gateway for 1/3 of Canada’s goods trade outside North America—from the rest of the country.

Canada’s national patchwork of industrial carbon pricing regimes is only getting patchier. Provinces like Alberta have weakened systems so much that carbon prices have crashed, reducing incentives for low-carbon projects.
