🚨 Harassment, intimidation and arrested for an unspecified breach of bail conditions because she didn’t hear a knock at the door in the middle of the night.

Rach has been adhering to her bail condition to a T and yet it’s not enough.

Our friends at Peace Action Ōtautahi are blockading the conference’s close links with weapons and defence companies.

Speakers at the event include SYOS, who produces drones that are eventually used by Israel to commit war crimes.

Another speaker is RocketLab, which launches BlackSky surveillance drones that are allegedly used for Israel’s missile strikes.

Some of the speakers have been referred to the International Criminal Court.

Not only are many of these companies involved in destructive activity and violence - they also spew exceptionally high levels of climate pollution.

Our position is clear - militarism is a climate catastrophe.

We’ve been involved in a variety of conference blockades before, some of which have resulted in disruptions or even forced cancellations.

😠 This is not only a waste of everyone's time, but it appears to be harassment. The system is designed to be hard and to restrict people's freedoms before they've had a fair trial. And trials take FOREVER here, like years and years.

🏡💤 At 2:16am on the 30th of September the police knocked on the door and Rach did not hear it. She was later arrested for not coming to the door.

Now her records state that she breached bail conditions even though she didn’t. She simply could not hear a door knock in a large house at 2:16am.

Rach has been adhering to her bail conditions to a T, even setting up a baby monitor nearby to hear the doorbell ringing as it’s not possible to hear just a knock in the large house.

🤨 Rach arrested for breaching bail!

Rach’s bail condition is to remain at home. She is not on a curfew between 12-2pm. The police have been repeatedly coming to her house in the early hours of the morning, waking her up each time, to check she is at home.

⛏️ ⛰️ Destroying nature for private profit is what Bathurst Resources has planned for Denniston Plateau; an open cast coal mine approx the size of Nelson city that will destroy an entire ecosystem.

There is no restoration that will be able to replace what has been lost.
