This wildflowers meadow is in Oldbridge beside Drogheda. At the beginning of June I went there to hear the dawn chorus.

I saw this dewey cobweb this morning and I thought about webs and their influence on architecture; lightweight structures that use minimal material for maximum strength and resilience. So I discovered the work of Frei Otto and this incredible structure. It’s called The Heart Tent.

The Oldbridge House park just outside Drogheda is open to the public year round. This pan across the wildflower meadow was shot at dawn on the 3rd of June of this year. It was well worth getting up at 4am to hear the birds at sunrise.

A HISTORIC MILESTONE: For the first time, solar power generated more electricity globally than nuclear, making it the world’s 4th largest power source.

In just 5 years, solar output nearly tripled—from 79 TWh (Apr 2020) to 233 TWh (Apr 2025). The energy transition is speeding up.
