Honestly, I have doubts about the resources too, even with allies.
In hindsight the whole pivot to Asia moment feels like a stupid marketing ploy that ran out of control.

Right. So you're saying the Great Depression was just as bad for the German economy as WW2, if not worse. I'm not even gonna argue against it.
I'm just gonna point out the war was destructive in many ways that aren't captured in per cap GDP and unemployment numbers.

The pivot to Asia was always BS, wasn’t it?
There was never a real plan to contain China. And America never had the will or the resources to actually try to do it anyway.
