A modified version of the title screen of beloved Europe-exclusive Game Boy classic, Franky, Joe, & Dirk: On the Tiles, in which the titular characters have been respectively replaced with Joe Hoops (a stock photo of an angry Black man used to replace Charles Barkley's likeness in rereleases of Barkley: Shut Up and Jam), Glover, and Ruff from the PS1 platformer, 40 Winks, all owned under the Piko Interactive umbrella. The title has been renamed "Hoops, Glover & Ruff... On the Tiles" to match.

Accidentally loaded up a GBC-specific Mesen state in mono Game Boy mode and I think I may have accidentally turned Quest: Fantasy Challenge into a beautiful work of glitch art

Was randomly thinking about this quote from an old Comics Journal interview with Berke Breathed the other day

"You know who the syndicates are looking for? They're looking for the dissatisfied stockbroker, sitting in his office right now, he's about 30 years old, thinking how funny it is, there's all these office things going on around him, with computers and stuff. And he can draw a little bit. *A little bit.* He's got the gags in his mind because he lived them. He's going to start drawing comic strips, and he sends the stuff off to the syndicate. Even though they're badly drawn, it doesn't matter because they're all reduced to sub-microscopic size. And they start the comic strip. I have seen so many of these come across my desk in the past five years, and I've seen them syndicated as well. They never last very long. But they hit fast, they've got a good gimmick, they've probably got a hook that sounds good to editors. Syndicates can sell them fast. These guys aren't artists, they're dissatisfied stockbrokers who scribbled a little bit in high school, and can draw it just enough--the expectations are so low artistically on a comic page--that they're being hired." Three illustrations of the titular protagonist from the 1981 Universal arcade game, Lady Bug, dressed as other artists' interpretations of the character. From left to right: the original artwork for the European Coleco/Intellivision releases of the game (closest to the original Kohtani artwork, albeit lacking most of the "insect" characteristics), the 3D model seen in the Ultracade menu (another humanoid interpretation, which depicts her as blonde, hence her saying "I don't think blonde is really my color..." in this piece), and the artwork from a later European CV/IV revision that depicts her simply as a cartoon ladybug, which is interpreted closer to a kigurumi/onesie. Pictures of the interpretations are included directly next to the drawings. Also present at the bottom-left of the piece is a crude, quick sketch of Mr. Do! going "everybody look at my wife RIGHT NOW".

Reminded of when Hamster brought over some weird no-name Cosmic Alien clone a couple of years back. Not sure why they keep licensing out these weird second-rate knock-offs instead of the originals, but I guess as long as any version is on ACA it's not that big a deal

The thing about the GBC Grinch game is that's literally just how the Grinch was drawn on all of the 2D promotional artwork for the 2000 movie. They just made him look like that!

Sad to think we'll probably never see Rent-a-Hero turned into a story about a Silicon Valley tech start-up, described as "Uber for heroes"
A paragraph from a page on the Empire website about the planned Rent-a-Hero movie, which was announced in 2016. Literally zero news about the film has surfaced since. "[Steve] Pink and co-writer Jeff Morris are turning that basic concept into the idea of a slacker genius joining a tech start-up which bills itself as "Uber for heroes." But when he and some of his comrades learn that the company bigwigs are planning to weaponise the technology involved, they team up to stop that happening. “As SEGA fans, we are excited to dive into the near future with these Rent A Heroes, and explore what it means to be an everyday hero in a comedic, high-energy, action adventure,” Pink says in a statement carried by The Hollywood Reporter."
