For some time many people have been saying "we voted Labour we got Conservative" - now after the latest stuff from the Home Secretary I get more of a feeling that we voted Labour we got Reform UK.

Good article. So many bad design choices at the outset. Euston is the least well connected terminus in north London it would have been so much better to put in the St Pancras Kings Cross area and it could then link to HS2 and the channel tunnel and far more tube lines.

You've been very lucky with your DB trains. We've just got back from a visit to Norway which involved 6 IC or ICE trains from Brussels to Kiel and back. Three of them were cancelled requiring a hasty replan. All were over 15 mins late, three about an hour late, 2 with non IC stock.

Well at the time all were treated as against the law. Obviously homosexuality is not now. But we know that forced chemical treatment drove him to suicide. Isn't that still a risk?

It may be a good idea to forcibly treat sex offenders with chemicals, but v surprised nobody has raised the case of Alan Turing who killed himself after being forced to accept such treatment. Not a good precedent is it?

I don't understand why the winter fuel payment isn't simply rolled into the pension. Then it will be taxed and those paying higher rate tax will get very little.

Perhaps the government is playing a long game. By refusing all small measures like this they could be hoping that an inexorable pressure will build up to actually rejoin the EU.
