Proud Councillor for Cricket Green Ward & Cabinet Member for Children's Services in Merton | Chair of Governors at Haslemere School.
One of the joys of Co-Chairing Patchwork Foundation is celebrating our Masterclass graduates. Last week at #Guildhall, City of London, we celebrated the Class of 2025.

This is what Patchwork is all about: making politics more accessible and giving every young person a role to play in our democracy.

Gill never ceases to amaze. Yesterday’s Christmas Fair at our beautiful Vestry Hall was yet another example.

Thank you for leading such a warm and welcoming community event in our ward and for bringing together all the brilliant volunteers who made it happen. I especially loved my reception crew 🎄

One of my highlights from #UKParliamentWeek was a session at Haslemere Primary School, where I am proud to serve as Chair of Governors.

Year 4 and 5 had brilliant ideas for our local democracy, and Max’s pledge to spread compassion and kindness if he were a councillor really stayed with me 💜

Met this year’s Supported Interns and honestly they are an amazing bunch. Curious, confident and full of great questions about my job and how decisions get made.

I loved hearing about what they’ve learned so far and the passions they’re bringing into the workplace. #EmployMerton

This morning for #UKParliamentWeek I was with our sisters at Ricards Lodge High School. I was really impressed by their knowledge of women in politics and the history of the fight to get more of their voices heard in the decisions that affect us all.

Our democracy belongs to all of us 🗳️

Huge thanks to students and staff at Bond Primary School and Raynes Park High School for inviting me in for #ParliamentWeek. Our democracy belongs to all of us, especially the next generation, and it is always powerful to see them thinking about the kind of country and community they want to build.

As a #WhiteRibbon Ambassador myself, I am really proud of these girls who have stepped up at Phipps Bridge Youth Centre to become our first Junior White Ribbon Changemakers in #Merton.

Huge thanks to #EmpowerHer team and our #VAWG team

So grateful to my councillor colleague Gill Manly for leading such a fitting tribute to our dear friend and local resident Christine ‘Tot’ Kelly, our Queen of #Mitcham.

A beautiful way to remember everything she did for our community and all the people she brought together.

Rest in peace, Tot 🌹❤️

#IWishAMentorHadToldMe many things like stop playing Pokémon at the back of class. But most importantly to get involved in life and hobbies beyond school.

It’s why I’m backing City Year’s #GivingTuesday campaign so more children have someone in their corner.

At my first Co-Operative Party conference as a new member. I joined because I believe our communities should have real power and a say over their future.

I’m proud to keep that work going in #Mitcham by standing for re-election as a @mertonlabour.bsky.social and Co-operative candidate. #CoopConf25

Pollards Hill Youth Centre was absolutely buzzing. So good seeing it full of our children and young people laughing, playing games and just being themselves.

Huge thanks to Carol Hemans, our youth workers and young leaders for all you do to provide this safe space. You inspire me. #YouthWorkWorks

Powerful #ArmisticeDay assembly at Raynes Park High School. Thank you to Headteacher Kirsten Heard and Year 7 for bringing the stories of former pupils who stepped up to serve and died for our country so young.

An honour to stand with former students like Jim who served. Thank you for your service.

History made in Detroit.

Huge congratulations to Mayor-elect Ms Mary Sheffield. We met on my IVLP visit and her love for #Detroit was powerful even back then.

America looks a little brighter today because of leaders like Mary and fellow Ugandan born Zohran Kwame Mamdani. All the best ✊🏾

Remembrance, for me, is about service: honouring those, like #Mitcham’s very own Mr William Dedman, who gave themselves to something greater than any one of us.

We can repay that by serving our community today, and teaching our children and young people the stories of this place. #RemembranceDay

Thank you @mertoncouncil.bsky.social for an awesome fireworks display tonight. Great to see so many of our residents come together to remember remember the 5th of November, even on the 8th ✨ #BonfireNight #Merton

What better way to mark #YouthWorkWeek than launching an Esports Youth Club in #PollardsHill. Got schooled by a young person on #Fortnite. These kids are good.

Thanks to Merton Libraries, our Youth Work team, #Esports and BBC Children in Need.

I am proud to help share our new Healthy Masculinity toolkit so that more of our young people, parents and carers can have honest conversations about respect, relationships and what it means to be a man today. This is part of our work to end violence against women and girls 💜

Not all heroes wear capes.

Met Stephen Crean, a Nottingham Forest fan who ran towards danger to confront the #Huntingdon attacker. He was hurt, but like the local hero he is, felt like he had no choice but to protect other people he didn’t know.

Thank you Stephen and wish you a speedy recovery.

Big thanks to Grace Collins MBE and @local.gov.uk team for a weekend that was so needed. Great to be with fellow young councillors, dig deep into our origin stories, and talk about bringing our whole selves to serving our communities and making a difference. Our youth is a strength. #LGAYoungCllrs

As Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, I’m proud #Merton is still the only London borough running these clubs during half term breaks too. Only handful of places are doing that nationally. Children deserve joy and opportunity all year round, and @mertonlabour.bsky.social backs this with action.

Loved visiting our free holiday clubs for children on free school meals. I sadly lost a climb to a 10 year old at Morden Hall Park and had to dodge paint at Rosie’s Art Club, but all very fun for our children. Proud #Merton is the only London borough running these in half term too. #LetKidsBeKids

Bursting with pride. Benedict Academy in our ward is top 10 in #London and 29th in the country.

Congratulations to pupils, families and staff. As Cabinet Member I see the care & hard work in our schools. Every #Merton school is Good or Outstanding.

We all know the global icons, but our story is here too, in the everyday role models in our community.

Our foster carers from all backgrounds who open their homes and love our children are part of that story. You are the role models our young people need to see.
