I work in FE & students by and large have no clue this is what uni is for. They absolutely do see it as job training, they get visits from unis & widening participation charities etc which reinforces this. I think I'm the only one who has ever told them about stuff like academic research!

I don't think this is just me being a nitpicking historian in thinking that this might just be a little bit inaccurate.

Honestly, it's nice to be back doing academic things & has inspired me to get off my arse & look into publishing my thesis.
