No argument there. It attracts an unreasonable amount of attention from around the world. Surprising numbers of people say they want to knock it down. I see them in my searches. Some people have Stonehenge Derangement Syndrome, I think. haha

It's apples and oranges. There's no other megalithic site like Stonehenge. Doesn't make it better. I love Avebury myself. But Stonehenge is peculiar in its remarkable engineering, the fine crafting of the linteled circle, out there near no city at the time. An anomaly. Different from all the others.

I mean, many of his ideas were pretty objectionable. But his early books helped to start what became a whole field of theories about ancient aliens. Almost everyone was reading them but that would be before your time. haha

Don't think I ever ended up showing you the barrow I built with these pieces! Picked up the entrances at Salute 2024 while in the middle of a uni module about Stonehenge and Britain in the Neolithic to Bronze Age, so couldn't resist having a crack at building one.
