I’ve been trying to get the author to sign my copies… :)

Yes. This is one I expected on the list.

I’m mourning My Pi before I mourn Carmen’s. And I’m adding Amaghetti’s to the list and Thai Spice as still the greatest Thai I’ve had in Chicago. #standeeslol

As someone who probably watched Adventures in Babysitting with you, this brings me joy. Who knew we’d both end up in Chicago!

Another reminder to see Thief. Thanks!

No jackass? Is it really worth listening then?

Hoping it’s for the Chicago Fire filming on Loyola Ave.

Any idea why that stretch ended up that way? Appreciate the background!

Blue Jay came back strong this year with a better menu and better prices.

I can only speak about Rogers Park (which is what this thread is originally about). I’m on every zoom in these types of reviews and there is quite a mixture. I’d love to hear your ideal democratic option. Simply mandating a type of zoning and ignoring community feedback ain’t it. We need a balance.
August 8, 2025 at 11:13 PM
Again. Unnecessary hyperbole. Most of the folks providing feedback don’t own properly and while I’m fortunate to own, I’m miles away.
August 8, 2025 at 8:26 PM
I’m a fan of the simple zoning rules. Not a fan of vilifying the supposed “tiny, extremely unrepresentative” community members. Why criticize those getting involved?
August 8, 2025 at 4:30 PM
The same week, one developer chose to work with the neighborhood (Leona’s). One chose not to. Both were dense options. But let’s continue to vilify the neighborhood.
August 8, 2025 at 4:59 AM
Again, I would have preferred an option closer to what they originally brought forward than the eight units, but they haven’t come in good faith.
August 8, 2025 at 4:57 AM
After they swore up and down that the only way they could develop on that space was the option they proposed. Funny how they then came up with an eight unit option. How do you suggest we build trust and work together?
August 8, 2025 at 4:57 AM
The developers chose 8 units in a my way or the highway strategy. They likely could have made one plan revision to get very close to what they wanted. But hey, blame the neighborhood instead. I would have preferred that revision to the eight units.
August 8, 2025 at 4:36 AM
I’d agree with you completely if this were actually my attitude. At least in Rogers Park, the proposals are typically refined once after neighbor feedback, as was the case of the Leona property. Instead of the hyperbole of “infinite time” may we actually argue reality?

And as a complete aside, @danielkayhertz.bsky.social , if there’s anything I’ve learned from this thread, I continue to need more education on this topic, so please sign and send back the copies of your book I’ve begged of you :)

Instead, surprise surprise, they went with an eight unit option. This could have easily been worked through and vilifying the neighborhood is unfair (at least in this case).
