If I didn't know Hank this would just sound INCREDIBLY conceited. Because I know (of) Hank, this seems mostly really really sweet (and just a little bit conceited)!

2. it's not that I shy away from second hand - I'm an absolute gremlin about picking up good wood from the garbage, I grew up with hand me downs and garage sales and garbage finds (my dad picked up so many free bikes!). it's just often impractical to find certain items that way. but I will TRY

1. for loads of different reasons (my size [re clothes], the specifics of objects I'm looking for, etc.) that make this difficult for me, but this year I will make the effort to CHECK ANYWAY

only in some circumstances! definitely doesn't for my spouse, or lots of other people.
