it's not the real Pinkshinyultrablast. it's some AI slop that's impersonating them (badly).

Yeah, well spotted - it's AI slop. We've put in a strike against it, so it should be removed today.

so far out of reach for any non major label artists nowadays.

that would equate to about 5.8 million spotify streams as a minimum...

ah, that would be nice eh. honestly though, i don't blame the headliners in this scenario - it was a combination of our inexperience at that level, and maybe some of the crew on the tour rinsing us a little. i think had it happened again, we'd be doubling the fee requirements each night.

The band were told we had to pay for a lighting engineer and monitor engineer, on top of sound engineer - or they'd be playing in the dark with no sound on stage. We also had to match their merch prices contractually - meaning we had to price t-shirts at 35 euros, and consequently they sold fewer.

Then there's gear hire maybe, sound engineer, sometimes if it's a really big tour you need lighting engineer too. Tolls on motorways, per-diems for band members, accommodation and so on. It cost the label a fortune when Ringo Deathstarr supported Smashing Pumpkins throughout Europe.

I think also the small label has less cash to help touring acts. Ten years ago, our income was far higher and we were able to help our bands touring. Now, thanks to revenue, pressing costs, postage, Brexit etc - it's just not possible.

I played this so much when I was at University. This, and the Global Communications 76:14 album, along with Aphex Twin's first Ambient Works... Soufie by Banco de Gaia comes to mind as well.
