Example CM SAF product: Sunshine duration for March 2025 from the SARAH-3 Climate Data Record. It shows the distribution of accumulated sunshine for this month. Example CM SAF product: Surface Downwelling Short-wave Radiation (SIS) for March 2025 from the CLARA-A3 Climate Data Record. It shows the global distribution of SIS. 🇨🇭 The Swiss Drought Platform has won the German Award for Good Administration! It combines Sentinel data with CM SAF climate records to produce the Vegetation Health Index (VHI), supporting national drought monitoring efforts.

Studies like this rely on long-term, stable climate observations, including the global climate data records provided by CM SAF.

☀️ At the EUMETSAT Climate Symposium, @meteofrance.com showed how CM SAF SARAH sunshine duration data provide far more detailed national maps than ground-based networks alone. A great example of the added value of satellite-based climate data!

Since 4 July 2025, the DWD CM SAF team works from the new DWD-Campus. The modern, CO₂-neutral building offers us a new base to continue generating high-quality satellite-based climate data for users worldwide.
