Environment Canada decided that all beetles should have common names. When the ESC demurred from participating in that exercise (for similar reasons) they assigned "common names" by translating the Latin names.

But the corollary is if that pen (or AI, or whatever) works for you then use it. Just as long as you're don't blame the pen for the quality of the work, of course!

it's like when you first start buying tools. Everyone gets that cheap 12-in-1 screwdriver because they think it will be more efficient. And it's cheaper than 12 good screwdrivers. But what you find out is the 12-in-1 is meh for most real jobs. When you grow up you get proper tools.
