The @who.int described #ClimateChange as the single greatest threat facing humanity. Now's the time to prepare for what lies ahead.

Today, CMA President @drmargotburnell.bsky.social kicks off the @theglobeandmail.com event in Toronto, exploring solutions to severe health impacts of climate change.

Today we acknowledge the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls & Gender Diverse People. While we've made strides with awareness, impact is measured by outcomes. The CMA continues to call on the federal government for long-term support of Indigenous-led health care.

Patients are following false health claims and it's led to adverse outcomes. We can't deny that misinformation poses a serious threat. That's why @uwaterloo.ca has developed a research tool to track health misinformation patterns before they become potential catastrophes.

Longer age expectancies for patients means more complex health conditions, and our health care system, which is already at the brink, isn’t equipped to handle this growing demand. Patients deserve to age with dignity.

That’s where ‘age tech’ comes in.

#InternationalDayOfOlderPersons
Can 'age tech' bring dignity back to care for older adults?
To support a rapidly aging population, public, private and non-profit investors are pouring billions of dollars into “age tech.”

Today, let’s remember the life of Joyce Echaquan. Let’s also remember why Joyce’s Principle exists, and the ongoing work we must do each day to ensure those principles are upheld, as we move forward on the path toward equitable access to health care for Indigenous Peoples.
cmadocs.bsky.social
Her needless death sparked the creation of Joyce’s Principle, which guarantees Indigenous Peoples the right of equitable access, without discrimination, to all social and health services. This is key to our work as we continue our reconciliation journey with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

Today, September 28, marks five years since Joyce Echaquan, a 37-year-old Atikamekw woman, died in a Quebec hospital after she was denied the care she needed. A coroner’s inquest confirmed that racism and prejudice were factors in her death.
